Week Mar 1-6 10

i help the Board Of Elections  during “election time” as did my Grandpa before me . He impressed upon me at an early age how important it was and is to Vote.

So Monday i worked at Farmer School (Farmers he called it)  in preparation for the Tuesday Referendum Vote on a county tax increase.

Tuesday morning i left at 4:50 AM and went to work…. the polls open at 6:30 AM and close at 7:30 PM it is a long day at best but if it is not a big turn out it is a really long day.We had snow and rain and finally  the day was over and i reached home about 10:00PM …Tired for sure

Les took Belle Starr to the airport for her second attempt at going to her new home in Peoria Ill. and this time the weather did not keep her from flying. The first attempt there was a huge storm and it grounded the planes in the Mid Atlantic areas yes we had snow Tuesday but all was okay. The snow made our travel late Tuesday night tricky but it left on Wednesday!!!

Belle is happy in her new home with the Herriman Family and settling in nicely.

Wednesday Night Abilene treed a raccoon in the front yard . i could hear her working on something and went out to see what was wrong. She heard me coming and yelped at the tree and said “it’s up there now knock it down for me!”  Which i did and Abilene, Amarillo and Montanna took care of it. They are great at getting rid of unwanted critters! She keeps us free of ground hogs , opossums , and such. They are great at killing rats too.  Now they do not go looking for these critters just the ones that come on their property and they “know” the boundaries!

Tosha came by on Thursday and took the beautiful puppy photos on the home page of Matt and Festus….She is so good!!

Friday Les rode horses at Uwharrie National Forrest with our friends Kenny and Leiah from VA.

Friday night early morning…. Amarillo was having a fit and i should have got up (i know that bark and should all ways investigate it) but did not… i have (had) 9 ducks in a pen not 30 feet from my back door…”something” came and took one .! Amarillo will sleep with the ducks and Abilene will sleep with the puppies tonight. All the lights will be on and I will get up if i hear barking!!!  i guess it is just “their”charity and Amarillo’s barking that they did not take the whole flock!!!

Today (Saturday) is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!  i have much to do in prepration for next weekend and the Herding Clinic… Les is back to Uwharrie riding and we are taking a colt to the horse sale tonight!
