Today was a beautiful fall day with red and golden yellow maple leaves everywhere! The sky was blue, and tonight the stars were bright and the sky clear!
We cut wood and then the rope broke on the chain saw! To the shop it had to go!
With our addition of the wood stove we added a side porch for wood to be stacked on. We realized that we needed something for the wood to rest against to keep it on the porch. I suggested using one of the old posts off of an old house that was being torn down down in Denton several years ago, that I saved for just this kind of purpose. Perfect! Then I drug out the carpenters lace that attached to the post up high and perfect! It looks so pretty. Yeah it needs painting but we will get that in the spring.
Carpenter’s lace are those curly fancy looking carved pieces that you see on porches from the 1900’s Victorian looking . You know the ones?!
While we were being creative I decided to make a trough out of rock on the ground under the drip of the roof for the water to run in. I am 3/4 finished. When I get through with that I will go to the creek and bring creek sand back and make a graveled area so we don’t have to be in the mud this winter. I even have the idea of making walks to the doors by laying rock paths and filling them with creek sand. We will see how this goes first. But it is a good idea and is in keeping with “my style and way” of doing things! Where the wood is stacked on the ground against the house I will have impatient plants next spring. Spring, umm…
Tomorrow we will go to the cow/duck sale!!! And I will give you all a PUPPY UPDATE tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
