Amarillo “What Is In The Tree”

About 10:45 PM I had to go out to see what in the world was happening. The dogs were barking their “Hey You Better Come Help Us ” bark, “And Bring your gun too!” But I thought with the snow still on the ground and it dark I best take my special walking tool. It has a sharp metal flat end and could do some business if needed. So it is 34 degrees outside and the moon is very bright in the winter sky. Me in my PJ’s and overalls across the woods Drover and Montanna (who were not part of the treeing party) went with me. We crossed the old barbed wire fence along Abilene’s Trail with flash light in hand down the hill and across the branch and up the steep side of the mountain.
I had to keep calling because they were making quiet sounds like they were hung or hurt or something? At the base of an old but not too big Beach tree sat Abilene quiet as was BOO just looking up.I shinned the flash light all up in the tree but no eyes! Amarillo had her head inside the hollow part of the tree and whatever it is/was had got up into the inside of that old tree and was out of her reach! She had made the hole slick from biting it to try to get at what was there. I poked around a bit and there was something soft and smushy.???
I made her “Leave It” and back to the house we came without the aid of the flash light. Now I have her up cause I know she will go right back and worry with what ever it is and might get that head of hers stuck in that tree. Boy that would be a pretty come off! Wouldn’t it?!
