Tales of The Duck Wranglers (a series)

I have wondered how the English Shepherd , Farming, and my way of life will fair years from now. Will it disappear?  And how could I help young girls grow in wisdom and knowledge of the “Farm” and it’s ways. I guess I need not wonder…listen to these two very remarkable young girls…

Not many girls like getting dirty.  I’m not one of them.  Getting dirty opens up a new level of ways to have fun.  One of them is wrangling ducks.  Wow!  I had so much fun chasing the ducks down.  To do that, I had to corner them and keep them cornered long enough to pick up.

It was so cold outside, but we kept warm near the fire.  I didn’t know many of the people or dogs, but everyone was so nice, making it easy being around strangers.  I think Drover, Nara, Jake and Boomer were the best herders.

We had a great time at the herding workshop.  I love helping Kay with whatever I can…especially the puppies (so friendly and cute!)

I never dreamed I would pick up a duck, but sure enough I did.  Their feathers are smooth and their webbed feet have sharp nails that poked me quite a few times.  I think they poked Kynsay, too.  They were hard to catch and when I did get one, it was hard to keep it still while I was carrying it to the herding pen.

When the dogs were herding the sheep, a dog named Nara was amazing to watch.  She listened to her owner and all the commands that her owner gave her like come by and lie down, those were some of them.  Another dog named Jakey was great at listening and was wild looking, too.  His colors were gray with black and tanish-blond, and was good!

A black and white dog named Jessy was very good.  He listened and ran and was tired after he herded the sheep.  I think the sheep were tired, too.

I enjoyed helping Kay and I think she enjoyed having me and Kynsay help her.  It probably helped her out a lot.  She said we did.  I love helping pick up the ducks and help with the sheep.  I would love to help her again.
