AND NOW THERE ARE SEVEN…

Today was the big day… The first puppy left for her new home!  The first one is all ways hard for me… this was no different! My “Tara” has a new home with Marty and Brenda Burrell in Virginia. They own a farm with cattle and horses. She will be called “Sadie” . I know Sadie will fit right in and be the “farm dog” she was meant to be!

I visited the horse sale for a diversion for my sadness  and only stayed a few minutes, Amarillo went with me. Last night we had 3 inches of rain and it was so muddy I did not want to stay long. I met a very engaging young lady 7 years old and she carried on the most interesting conversation about dogs with me! I stopped by the local tack shop and there met another young girl 7 years old as well. She was a very small girl carrying her new purple saddle pad over her arm. I asked her if she had a saddle to match that pad and she said “yes” her uncle was carrying it (black with a purple seat). She started telling me she rode horses and had a haflinger and trail rides at Uwharrie!  I asked if she had some boots to match and she said no but she had a hat that would! She was so tickled with her new tack she was just smiling so big. It brought back memories of being a child and my Grandpa  bringing me home from the sale a new “Bonnie Allen” saddle (I still have) and a pony to go with it!   I remember well how good it felt. All warm and happy and good inside! What promise it held !  It felt so good for me to remember that… Kinda ties the events of the day together for me.. The Burrell’s have a new puppy.. the little girl with the saddle and pad and my memories of Grandpa and my pony!

My friend Laree stopped in to visit latter and to see the puppies. It was a real good day !
