The weather was gorgeous! Big blue sky, warm , a bit on the windy side more like March than February in North Carolina.
This afternoon the dogs , puppies and I went for a walk… We started towards the pond and zip down the bank as hard and fast as they dared run towards the water… stopping just in time to not go in! Yeah, they have learned! Then bounce, bounce , push and shove and into the water they rolled. All 5 coming back out wet and covered in red mud from the dry red dirt on the bank. Then bounce , push, shove, roll, run and a growl or two “You’re too rough! Quit it!” then on to the pasture behind the dam. Where they sniffed and snorted and played and followed me to the branch. We took the path through the woods to the big field. All the dogs were so happy for me to be along! It has been a cold long winter.
We ended up at the sheep pens. Where we did the chores for the evening. I separated my duck flock. All the mixed ducks in one pen and the Muscovys in the other pen. The ducks are laying and I want to set the eggs from my mixed flock and I have a friend that will eat the eggs from the Muscovys.
We brought the sheep in and fed . The puppies are fasinated by the sheep and watched intently as they ate. Then Bell and Kat two of my sheep decided they would sniff out the pups. Zara stood her ground as did all the pups but then she gave a big bark and the sheep jumped back! Ah! Zara said ! So she barked again several times and to the back of the pen the sheep went! Such power in a little pup!
We played in the round pen while the water was running for all the animals and too soon it was time to go back to the house.
All the puppies were happy and tired!
TOMORROW: Where the Puppies are going/gone to!!!!!!
