What a fine day this was and what a wonderful time Les, Drover and I had! Drover went along to see and maybe work the sheep.
We delivered “Tucker” to his new forever home in Snow Hill , North Carolina! He went to a sheep farm, and will be very much at home with his new family and farm animals.
We left out about 10:30 Am and returned 9:30 PM. We so enjoyed our visit with Tucker’s new family Marlene and her Mom Mrs. Dixie! They have about 90 Hair Sheep. Turkeys, Peacocks, Chickens, Ducks , Geese, Mules, Farm Cats, 2 Goats, and one older dog named Tigger. They tend to their family farm. They raise sheep and eggs and pecans , plus hay. I was so impressed with how nice everything was fixed for the animals! And clean! Now I know personally how messy ducks are but Marlene and Mrs. Dixie daily clean pens and such. Everything was fed well and looked like it! (some might be considered fluffy!) The fencing was superbly done and well thought out with intense rotational grazing in place. And all this run by two of the nicest ladies you could ever meet!
I learned so much about sheep! I have found a mentor I believe. (Now I feel better about my sheep operation!) We talked and looked and visited and the evening flew by!
We met another English Shepherd owned by a local vet “Riley” was his name, a very nice young dog.
Too soon it was time to go… We loaded up 3 dozen farm fresh eggs (yum!) and 2 boxes of pecans (PIE!) along with some sheep delivery presents and then my absolute favorite 6 special butter cups just in bloom picked for me special by Mrs. Dixie (mine have not showed their heads yet!) and headed back to Jackson Creek. The butter cups are now on my island in my kitchen in a special vase! To be enjoyed , and oh the wonderful smell!
I miss little Tucker being in his favorite place beside my door! But I know he was ready for his special time of love and bonding with his new family! He will be one happy dog where he is! Dogs live in the moment and I believe if we all learned to do that how much better our lives would be for it!
I am often asked “how can you let the puppies leave?” Today is “how” and the other four days that puppies have went to their forever homes is “how”… To see the joy and happiness they bring to other people and the love they give is “how”. Oh yeah, it hurts but the good it does my heart to see and know the love and pleasure they bring to others and the love they receive is worth it! “It’s all good!”
