Les spent the day mowing our yard and my Mother’s yard. Seven hours he mowed! It sure looks great!
I went to town and bought feed for all of the animals.
When I returned home I fixed a salad (yes again!) and after supper I went out and played with the puppies. They were quite the rowdy bunch! Jumping, rolling, pouncing, stalking, playing and in general being happy puppies!
BOO had been barking behind the barn off and on all evening and about 9:00 PM she got really irate. I thought she likely had a possom playing dead and when it moved she cranked back up on the barking. The bark was her “Come Look there is something here! ” bark. It is different than the something is out there you go look bark.
Well I got a stick just to be safe and turned on all the lights behind the barn, that is when I saw something strike from the grass. Oh yes! I said” get it, get it, get it!!!!!” Montanna, Abilene, Amarillo and BOO got it! Drover wanted to boss the girls and make them stop. I am going to have to work on that. He clearly did not want them going after what ever it was! The next thing I knew (I was getting out of reach of the dogs slinging that snake on me) there were 3 pieces of snake and he was a big copperhead snake.” Way to go girls!”
Les said all afternoon BOO had been barking and jumping back in that same spot. Guess that old snake should have left while he had the opportunity! He is gone NOW!

Last night I almost stepped on a copperhead! I do not have a snake dog, since Susie died. I loved reading your story of your great ES on snake duty! I look forward to having a ES as soon as your next litter arrives! Keep me posted! Deb
