This morning was the time. The air was cool, and the grass wet from the sprinkles from overnight. The puppies started singing at 7:00 Am. They sound like they are hurt, but really want out and have figured out that the louder they are the faster I respond. Smart!
So I went out in my crocks and PJs . Never dreaming that the little rascals would be willing to go to the sheep pens with me! When I lifted the little growing buggers out of their sleeping quarters they started for the pond! All right then, it’s early and no one is about I will walk down to the pond with them! They loved the walk and were curious and cautious around the pond. The banks are straight up from the water and about 3 feet high covered in grass. All the puppies got up and teetered on the edge. I knew it would happen and then sure enough “plunk” like the sound of a big rock being thrown in deep water and out of sight over the puppies head it went! What went down came back up like a float! Swimming! Surprised but fine and to the bank where I reached down and picked it up! The puppy shook itself off and wiggled all over and bounced on full of itself! I had to laugh! The puppy was Daughtry!
The puppies were wanting to explore more so off to the sheep pens we headed. When we got there all the pups were wet from the grass and loving every minute of this new adventure! The ducks were fun and very interesting for the puppies with most of them pushing the gate open and coming on in where I was! Then they saw the sheep for the first time and let me say there was no fear on the puppies part! Parker was the star here very very very keen about the sheep and the ducks! He is going to a young man in Virginia that lives on a farm! What a fine farm dog he will be! His real name is “Ranger!”
The sheep had other ideas! Like “Lets get out of here! ” After sniffing round and sampling all the treats we headed back to the house.
When we arrived back they went to playing with each other like little tired children that do not want to take a nap but can hardly keep awake! Pretty soon they were out like a light and slept till after lunch! Yeah! Good for them!
Tomorrow we will try the big adventure again!

Oh what a fine day it was! It makes me sad to think it all has to end for you!! But more will be on the way I bet, in the fall, right? And your big-dog family is so wonderful, as well. I hope to be visiting from time to time with your “forever Ashleigh” – Callahan!
