Sweet Puppies

The puppies at night stay in a 10 x 10 homemade pen under the hay shed next to our house. It is about 70 feet from my door maybe. I leave the light on at night and have the baby monitor out there so I can hear what is going on as well as the back door is open.

So after breakfast the puppies are turned out and they get played with in the back yard at the Tack Room porch then the puppies go to their Puppy Play Ground/Pen.  This is where they stay most of the day unless I invite them to follow me some place else. The really amazing thing is the puppies follow me from their night time pen to the daytime play area. Then at dark they follow me to the nighttime pen. All I do  is call “pup, pup, pup, pup!”  All Nine of them follow! It sure makes things easier for me! (Yeah I love it!).

Today they played and ran and jumped on Drover, he does not mind and Amarillo plays with them as well. She has taught the puppies to not nurse her. They don’t bother her at all. So they are all officially weaned. No drama, no fuss, just weaned!

Late this afternoon I played with them on the  Tack Room porch and the puppies got so tired they took a nap in piles of 3! Too cute!

My brother and nephew came by on  4 wheelers right by the puppies and they were not afraid, when they stopped to chat the puppies all came right up to them.

To date the puppies have been exposed to the following: grass, dirt, gravel, slick and rough concrete, leaves, hay, wood, carpet, rock, rubber mats, weeds and tall grass. They have been round grown dogs (my 5) people, children, horses, 4 wheelers, cars, trucks, the gator, the big metal doors being opened and shut, sawing, barking, music, and ducks! Rain, thunder, lightening and wind.

The puppies want to be with me all the time, they notice birds and airplanes in the sky, as well as look me in the eye and at my face for my expressions.

They will bark if they think there is a reason (wish BOO could learn that!)  And they are eating solid puppy food and drinking their milk twice a day.

It will be fun this week! I will take them to the sheep pens and on Walk About to the branch! What Great Fun!
