As you all know I have no fence up yet for my sheep. We are working on it sort of! They stay in the arena without too much trouble and we have expanded their grazing space to include the surrounding duck arena as well.
Belle was standing next to the four foot high fence late yesterday evening and just flat foot jumped over the fence! I saw her do it! Les and been telling me she was quite the jumper and I can see that now!
The sheep have also been grazing in the hay field as they pleased when I have them turned out in the larger area. And outside of one trip down the driveway they have stayed in the hay field.
Tomorrow Brent will be cutting the hay so I thought this morning one more outing would be okay and then they would have to be happy with just hay! So out they went and while I redid the duck’s water the sheep went happily along grazing in the big field. When I finished the dogs and I on the Gator went to turn off the water. I went right by the sheep and again the dogs did not bother the sheep. Good Dogs!
Well the sheep decided that they would Go Walk About! !!!! To the pond the traveled past me on the Gator and they looked around and started exploring the yard and the trees in my front yard. At one point they were headed for the woods and I got in front of them and on up to the house and around the barn they strolled. All the time my dogs were perfect! Then I remembered Paul’s Garden! OH NO!!!!! THEY CAN NOT FIND THAT!!!!! Quickly I put all the dogs up all but Drover! Then Drover , a bucket of feed and Me put the sheep up in the large stall!
How cool is that? I am a shepherd! With real Shepherd Dogs! and Sheep!!!!
It was all done quietly and with some control. Is it like I want it to be? Not yet ! But I can see that the work is paying off and No I have not ruined my dogs!
It was just so cool to be able to put the sheep up! Did I mention there were no wrecks and NO FENCES!!!!?????
