I took some horses for a friend to the horse sale this evening…
Two guys came by and started talking about their horses. (I do not know their names) . The one guy said he had a horse for 19 years and how hard it is to find one to replace it. Not that he did not have good riding horses he had just not found the right one.
We talked about different horses and I mentioned Ole King the horse I rode for so many years that was a stallion. How Grandpa gave him to me and promised the papers only if Grandpa did not out live the horse.
This guy said he had went to a man that had a mare for sale. It had not been ridden in 2 years (but was broke good) How he made a deal for the mare and was to return the next day for her. The man he was buying her from backed out of the deal because the mare rode just as good as she did 2 years before.
That mare was out of Ole King and a good mare Grandpa used for many years. I cannot tell you how nice it was to have someone remember my Grandpa and his good horses from 30 years ago. The man said he knew when he saw the mares papers that she was good .
Some horses are born broke and stay broke. That was what Ole King produced.
