Mousing!

Well, I have participated in many puppy activities , but I think today was my first Mousing!

English Shepherds are known for their vermin hunting and destroying of the same.

I can say for sure it is a born in them trait!

The puppies and all the big dogs went down to the duck pens for more general duck testing. All the puppies show herding ability. Some stronger than others. The amazing thing is how the puppies keep the ducks gathered. Now they have done it too many times to be a fluke.  I suspect the 4 that did not gather are drivers and I will be able to tell the first of the week (maybe tomorrow)

After we left the ducks called a prayer meeting I am sure. I do not know if they were praying for no more puppy herding test or happy it was all over for the day and they survived!  Even the sheep took notice of my 9 little Shepherds as they strolled  confidently across the field !

We went to the dam and in behind it, there is great mousing. So the puppies had their first taste of mouse hunting . The big dogs were all to eager to share this with the puppies. You never heard such sniffing and snorting and grunting! Precious! (see my latest video  on the video page)

Then we climbed the dam . The puppies loved that! Then they wanted water! By this time they were becoming quite tired. So we visited Tuff and Goodnight. I missed the photo of the year too! Goodnight had his nose down at Midnight and they were sniffing each other! I am going oh no ! Afraid Goodnight might stomp the puppy, but he seemed quite enchanted by Midnight, and forgot to snap the photo!

Then back across the dam and up to the puppy porch for milk and puppy food! And then a well deserved nap!

Tomorrow SHOTS !
