This afternoon as the sun shone, my 4 remaining puppies, along with Montanna, Abilene, Drover, BOO, and Sandy did a Walk About the Farm. The air was cool and it was a bit breezy. (Amarillo was up she is in heat)…
We started in my back yard and went to the branch along Abilene’s Trail. The puppies hit the branch filled with water but unknown to them (the water was under the fallen brown leaves) SPLASH! They looked at each other like You did that! No! You Did!
Then up the steep hill and up and over some very big fallen trees. Midnight had trouble he could not find a place low enough to get over but finally after some whining by him and lots of encouragement from me he made it! He was so pleased and his tail was a wagging!
Down the trail we went to see what my brother Kenneth had fixed. We have a very nice passable trail to ride and or walk on! Yea!
So we went to the pond and the puppies had to cross the spillway. Water they could see and it was rather swift and deep for puppies. But they were brave and splashed happily through it!
Then on across the dam and to the duck pens we traveled. The black and tan female saw the sheep and was quite interested in them! She wanted to go to them but I discouraged that. Lets just say I know what it is like to be run over by sheep! (They are all expecting I am fairly sure! late March and April I expect!) The puppies had to cross the terraces filled with water and they jumped what they could! It is so funny to see them gather up and jump! Especially when they land in the middle of the water! It is too sweet!
The ducks were in for a rough time today. The puppies worked the ducks but I have two small ducks that were not very fast and they lost a few feathers! What with Drover deciding they needed retrieving and the puppies thinking they were great fun! (All the ducks are just fine) Probably hoping the puppies do not pay any more visits though!
So back to the house and supper. Goats Milk and Kibble and a good long nap!!!
Guess they will dream of their Walk About tonight!
The air was so fresh and clear. It felt so good to be out and about…a bit sad for me but great for the puppies! The last puppies leave Wednesday!
But today I was Living In The Moment! (and loving every second of it!)
