We had rain most of the day and all us dogs laid round and slept! It was a good rain and much needed! It should make grass grow! Kay is hoping to have more hay this fall!
Long about 4:00PM it stopped raining and the sun peaked out for a while. Kay came out and we all went to the sheep pens and the patch where the sheep were fenced in last night. BUT THE SHEEP WERE GONE!!!!! Kay said those sheep are trouble! They were over behind the dam!
So Kay set about refixing the fence to hold the sheep and she mowed a bit round the duck arena. Then Abilene, Amarillo, Montanna, and Stetson were penned and BOO and I were took to the field. Kay told BOO to stay and left her in charge of the opening so the sheep had to stay in the arena (the gate and fence has not been put back up yet so it is a large opening BOO had to cover.
Then Kay and I went to find the sheep. They were in the field behind the dam and there is a section of trees that divide the two fields. Kay could see the sheep from the big field and sent me to bring the sheep back up to the arena.
I swung out real wide on an “away” stayed wide and came in behind the flock easy and slow. I walked the sheep up and over to the other field to the place Kay was waiting. Kay could see me as I did it by the book! I had to wear some to keep the sheep going in the right direction and took them right into the gate Kay had opened for me! Boy did she ever praise my work! (This is the first time I have worked out of site for Kay. But I knew exactly what she wanted me to do!
We brought the sheep up through the lane and into that open arena and BOO held her spot and I followed the sheep and they followed Kay into the holding pen! Mission accomplished!
***Today I was very pleased with Drover! What a fine stock dog he is turning into! ***
