Tonight I had to put the sheep up after dark. They stay in the arena at night with their lambs. We had storms this evening so I had to wait till all most 11 PM…
It was very dark…I had the gator lights only and they do not shine far.
Drover and I walked across the arena to the far corner gate, I thought all the sheep had come up but could not tell for sure. So I sent him to” LOOK FOR the SHEEP! ” Which he did! He went out and around and back and forth and looked across the branch and back and finally was satisfied they were all up! I opened the gate for him and back across the arena we walked. Course Drover was checking on all the sheep as I made my way to the gator.
We loaded up and drove around to make sure all was good (I could see by the lights of the gator) Drover had done his job ! Smile! No surprise here! He is a fine dog!
I am looking forward to working more with him in the coming weeks! Lambs are all born (well maybe one to go yet) and the puppies are all gone but one. So there will be more time for Drover and I to work.
Our next to last puppy leaves in the morning. He will make a fine farm/ herding dog! He will live in Virginia and help on his owner’s farm.
