Les and Kay’s Big Adventure (with Drover and Timber)

Day Two…

We went out to the Falls of the Ohio State Park. What an interesting place! And a very ancient one! The river was “up”! So the fossil beds were covered with water. The museum was very interesting.

Seems the fossil beds and the falls were an ancient crossing for animals, ancient peoples and the trail became a very important part of the history and settlement of this nation! They are located just below Louisville, Kentucky on the Ohio River.

Lewis and Clark began their Expedition of the Louisiana Purchase here just below the falls!  There is a monument of the two… famous, interesting, explorers on the banks of the Ohio.

I kinda feel like Lewis and Clark must have felt…Our Journey (though we know the destination) we have never been there and have not traveled the route …while we have some idea and a GPS (smile) it is full of the unknowns!

We are in Rockford Ill. tonight. We plan to visit with Sara Amble in Black Earth Wisconsin tomorrow. Sara purchased a pup from the same litter Drover is out of…and Les delivered that pup to her on his way back from Wyoming! (sadly her pup had an accident at 6 months of age and did not survive)…

Drover is quietly laying beside my bed and Timber is at the end of the bed on the floor. Both have settled in for the night.

The weather is very warm up here. The dogs are traveling well. Both had plain hamburgers for lunch and supper!

Six days to reach our Olympia, Washington destination!
