I woke as the sun broke the eastern sky. Eager and ready for this beautiful day.
The air had a fresh smell like sheets hung on a line to dry. There was a bit of wind and a definite crispness to the morning. The sky was Carolina Blue! and Beautiful!
The dogs were surprised to see me out and about so early but thrilled! I watched as they all checked out the field in front of the house . Dover and Timber playing their game. Abilene all business checking scents laid down the night before. Amarillo tippy toeing round the mud, Montanna all frisky and happy, BOO serious bout the scents…And the Puppy! What a pup! He was wide open! He was a Big Dog in a Big Dog World! Tail up ! Sniffing here and there! Checking out all the scents…
We took all the sheep down to the field and Tuff. We had lambs bouncing and the puppy thought he had done a real good job moving the sheep (in his mind all by himself)
He walked up towards the ewe Biscuit Momma and her lamb….But very wisely retreated when she stepped forward warning him of the danger he was in. I called him back and Abilene had her eye on the situation the whole time as well.
We walked in the field and it was good to be alive! I could feel the approach of spring and see the grass starting to grow! We watered the sheep and headed to the house.
