Les and I rose early …The day was beautiful. Birds singing…sheep grazing contently, dogs happy, and one rooster crowing:)
Monday evening our good neighbor Clay Trotter had come over and he and Les loaded the ram on the truck in the crate…So we were ready to go to the auction in Mt Airy.
Wow, the memories the place Mt Airy stir! Of course Andy Griffith and Mayberry (I still love to watch it)…
But the name itself suggest a breezy cool place nice to visit in the summer time. I had kin folk that lived there in the 60s and we use to go up and spend the day. They were my Mother’s aunt Wandie and her children. I remember playing on a street and being in town (a big thing for a country girl)
Then as I walked into the sale barn …I realized it had changed very little (the restroom was the same) 🙂 as a girl Grandpa and I would go there to horse sales. The restroom would be full of cowgirls …I swear they still have that same small mirror! as I looked in it I remember a black haired cow girl 😉 What I saw was a blond haired sheep herder! LOL! Still full of it!
The excitement was all round! I LOVE an auction!
I could feel and …all most see my Grandpa in his bib overalls and I sitting on the front row watching the stock being sold! Les and I watched our ram be sold and we were very pleased he has a new home!
We headed back down the road with plans to come to Mt Airy again!
It was a good day!

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful stories! I also love the auction (we used to call it “the market”) and went with my Grandpa growing up! You brought back a lot of great memories for me as well.
