Les and I drove to Snow Hill early Friday morning to purchase a ram for our girls.
I have never picked what I wanted for a sire of my flock…Kinda took what I could find…:)
Marlene has a Drover Abilene pup (now 3) his name is Tucker…Sure does look like Abilene!
But Marlene raises Dorper sheep. She and her Mom Ms Dixie have a wonderful farm. Beautiful sheep, horses, goats, ducks, dogs, cats, Peacocks, hens…oh and mules…
Anyway this time I chose what I wanted! and we purchased Abraham! He is so handsome! Has a black face and white body…Short and stocky and will be a year old in July…
All went well and we came home with a load of pecans, and 4 dozen farm fresh eggs! Yum! Oh and 7 Call Ducks!
So when we arrived home Drover helped us unload Abraham..He did not want to get out of the the crate so Les said send Drover in with him..I did and Abraham said Yes I believe I will get out of here!
Drover is working sheep so well in the pens and in the field gathering the flock. He reads my mind! does as I ask…He is AMAZING!!!
We plan to flush the ewes and breed in a couple of weeks! (Flushing is feeding the ewes feed to fatten them up before you breed them) and on the 18 the we will wean all the lambs. Spring is a busy time of the year for Farming!
