Late this evening (sorry no photos) the Puppies, Amarillo and Drover all went to the Sheep pens for the Puppies first Meet The Sheep! (They are 4 weeks old today)
So I had the pups on the back of the gator in a crate… Drover and I penned the sheep and the puppies were crying (it was hot) so I let the puppies out of the crate and they played in the grass about 15 feet from the round pen and watched.
Drover and I practiced driving and the free standing pen. Then I had Drover hold the sheep to the fence next to the puppies so the puppies could come closer if they wanted to…
The first puppy to check the sheep out was Jace. This was not a surprise to me. He is quite the puppy! Lots of confidence and a very strong puppy. He went nose to nose with one of the ewes thru the fence. She breathed on him and it scared him. I picked him up and he was fine. Then he did a low growl at the ewe. This will be a pup to watch! I expect he will do well on stock. And in all things.
The other puppy that made its way to the fence was Tweed. He was fine and smelled of the ewe thru the fence. That went well.
It was all most dark and the puppies were tired and ready to go to the house. So we loaded up and rode round the farm for a while. Then hung out in the yard with the big dogs and our neighbors for a while.
Tomorrow we will go back to the sheep pens and hang out.
Maybe I can get some photos!
