Today was 70 degrees, the sun shown the wind was out of the south and it felt like the wind at the beach. Smelled heavenly. Yesterday we had rain and I never checked the rain gauge but we had water standing in the terraces!
Drover and I turned the sheep out this morning. Even though we had a herding lesson at 1:00PM Not a problem Drover can gather the sheep up from anywhere!
I took care of things (paper work) and when our lesson arrived we went to get the sheep up. They were next to Grandpa’s! Not on his land but as far from the house as they could be!
Dan and Buddy, Drover and I walked over to the end of the dam but we were in the field behind the dam and I thought high up enough Drover could see the sheep. (wrong!) I sent Drover on an Away and he came back he did not see the sheep. So we moved a bit higher and I said see the sheep?! He looked and then saw them! I sent him Come Bye and off he went down to the tree line and edge of the field and then cross the drainage ditch and behind the sheep he brought them right to me in the field where I was standing with Dan and Buddy! (it was a 500 feet out run at least and up hill!) We took the sheep behind the dam and to the gate. Where Drover put the sheep through it and I shut it.
Then Dan and Buddy moved the sheep to the pens!
Dan and Buddy have been out of town for 3 weeks and had not worked …So I had them work on long line moving the sheep round the big 7 acre field. They did a fine job.
Latter Dan and Buddy sorted sheep at the gate and then worked in Larry’s Pen on away and come bye.
When we finished our work we put the sheep behind the dam again.
I took Tosha some stew for her family ( I had made a big pot yesterday!) And got home after dark.
Drover and I had to go check on the sheep and Tuff, plus shut that gate.
As we walked out in the dark…I caught my breath at the sheer beauty of the evening sky. The moon was 3/4 set in the west and it looked like a big circle outlined in light with a tiny sliver of crescent light inside the outline. The mountains were dark against the sky but you could see them and the pond. The pond reflected the moon on the ripply water. It was awesome.
It was one of those moments when you just know beyond a doubt …there is a God …He made all of this beauty…and we need to take the time to see it, enjoy it, and live in the moment!
