Today I fixed a chicken pie…(still trying for Grandma’s perfect pie) not there yet… But I can fix green beans and creamed potatoes like she did!
The chicken pie was for the Friendly Neighborhood Club meeting (every 4th Tuesday) We were low in numbers 19 today but had tons of food! All delicious. Pot luck…Piney Grove style!
We had wonderful singing by our very own and piano playing with group sing along. Old hymns, good food, wonderful fellowship…all at Piney Grove UMC !
Then home and a nap!
I woke, warm, rested and ready to go outside and spend the sunny but very cold afternoon with the puppies and lambs outside.
The puppies, and all the grown dogs, and I went to the field to sit in the sun shine to watch the lambs with their Mommas…We took a stroll all over the field to make sure there were no lambs that had not made it. All is well! We have a total of 14 healthy happy lambs! and 9 ewes have birthed! 11 to go! Look out next Tuesday!
We watered the sheep and checked on Tuff the horse.
None of my dogs were on leash, they were free to roam and do as they pleased in the field…but they did not harass the sheep or the lambs. While they did look at the sheep and lambs …none had to be called down for wanting to harass sheep.. Bothering sheep is not what they do and the dogs know that! The puppies are learning…(I have one puppy I am keeping…and one waiting for a ride to Kansas)
We sat down and watched the lambs form up into gangs…they ran and played and jumped…with each other. Then the lambs came running straight at me and the dogs sitting on the ground. All the dogs sat quietly and watched and soon as the lambs (7 of them) were 2 feet from us the lambs realized uh no 180 degrees and they were off! My dogs all sat quietly watching the play! The two puppies said “Look what we did!” and they were off after the lambs! I am laughing out loud at the lambs and the puppies! (I knew the pups would only go so far) and they were like yeah man! we move lambs! Then right back to me and back to playing and checking out the shed and the hay and such.
As the sun sat over Steep Rock Mountain Abilene was sitting up against me and Montanna in front of me and Drover on my left side I was warm and happy and enjoying this country life!
Enjoy the photos from this evening!
