Montanna is 12 years old…and becoming slower…
Today she slipped down to the sheep pens while I worked dogs …Took her a while because we were at the far end of the field…But she finally made it quietly…Along with Abilene…They sat in the thicket and watched on the other side of the fence across from the branch…
How Montanna was able to get in there is beyond me…Old woven wire fencing and briers, vines, and such plus a deep ditch for a wet weather branch complete with chest deep empty holes!
I knew she might have difficulty getting out of there…Well I figured that correct!
When I finished I went to the house and “hoped ” Montanna would be able to follow!
An hour latter I went looking for her.
Les had to help me… She was in one of the holes in the branch and could never have gotten out without our assistance… Okay. LES picked her up…I tried and could not …
On the way back to the house we stopped and took on water at the neighbors house…Then proceeded on our way home…
She is fine now and asleep…But I will have to put her up and be more careful from now on…
It would have been easy to have lost her if I had not known about where to find her!
Old dogs are special…have special needs and like people become frail as they age…
***Please understand this was a snake haven and Les is scared of all snakes! He went in and never thought about a snake (If he did he did not say a word) I have no desire to visit in places snakes are known to frequent but I never thought about them either! But let me say I believe I met with some poison ivy! I will know for sure in the morning! ***
