My Daddy Alton J. Delk… was born September 18, 1936 to Astor J. Delk and Lyde Nance Delk in Jackson Creek North Carolina.
He was the first of 4 boys…
Daddy was a farm boy (though I do not think he liked farming) he milked cows, helped with all the farming chores and was a good child.
He attended Piney Grove United Methodist Church with his family.
At sixteen he met a lovely young girl named Betty Sue Rogers in Denton at a dance on Halloween…She was fourteen and dressed as a cowgirl complete with cap guns! A year and 2 months latter they were married in December. Then the following Halloween I was born! A long eleven years 360 days latter my brother Kenneth J. Delk was born!
My Daddy was a good provider for his family…We were well taken care of. Even in hard times.
He was very much loved by his friends…So much so that I still have people tell me often how much he meant to them. how he helped them, gave advice, and what a truly good friend he was to them. Even 25 years latter they remember this great man…Yes Alton J. Delk was a great man…not perfect…but he had a good heart!
My Daddy went to be with the Lord March 24th, 1990 …. at age 53…
I have some photos I want to share from our life …in celebration of Daddy’s 79 Birthday!
Daddy loved flying his airplanes, boating, fishing, hunting, his family, working, and most of all my Mother.
