I left for Louisiana Tuesday after a fine morning of visiting… Les and I had a friend stop in. Ernie brought the most delicious pound cake made by his wife Jane. We had lunch at The Village in Denton and then I left out for a 2 day AHBA trial and 2 day herding clinic.
I was dropping off a puppy in Mississippi on Wednesday and then onto the Trial that started Thursday. Long road trip.
The plan back in November was for my friend Ilona and her dog Haven to travel with me. Marianne Dwight was going to meet us in Louisiana at the farm… and we were all looking forward to the herding clinic. Ilona came up end of December and stayed with us here at the farm. I caught a mean cold that took 2 weeks to get over. Then Ilona came down with the chest version! She was too sick to travel! So it was just KAT, Drover and I! Night before while packing I felt bad…Figured it was nothing I had all ready had that cold and was well. Let me tell you! The second time is NOT the charm! I had it in my chest! It was a rough trip down, and a difficult trial and clinic, and the trip back was not much better! All of this because of a bad cold!!!!!
I felt like 2 days were 5 ! Because of being so sick and it made me tired.
The clinic was nice and the trial too. I judged Friday and Scribed on Thursday in the rain.
But the sun came out and the grass was green and the day beautiful on Friday! The dogs, owners, and the runs were nice. I enjoyed being part of this nice group of people!
By Sunday I had all I could take. I had to get back home!
HOME was calling me!
I headed out and ran into that weather front along the Georgia line and spent the night with Drover and KAT. It was foggy and pouring down rain and windy…
Monday I was thinking about North Carolina! Hearing James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind” and Darius Rucker’s ” Wagon Wheel ”
I could see that beautiful Carolina Blue sky, the trees, hills and mountains of my beloved Jackson Creek…The sun setting over the pond at the farm…and Grandma’s house over the fields…The creek, with clear crystal water, rushing over the rocks just after a rain…Sheep out in the field and all the little lambs white as snow…with their Mommas. Coming up the driveway the Magnolia trees planted for Momma so many years ago. The land the fields the terraces, the horses…BOO and the two puppies….Sunshine! And Les ! patience and good…Yes I could hardly wait…my speed odometer could testify to my desire to be home;-)
Finally I arrived home! HOME! Gosh it is good to be back where I belong. Were I love…and am loved! Comfortable, happy, warm, beautiful, HOME!!!!
Yeah ! I am happy to be home!
I had a nice trip …and am thankful for the opportunity to go…But boy did I miss home!
Thank you Lord! For Home!
