I posted about my old ewe that was down and I dried her off and covered her up. That happened about 48 hours ago, and this afternoon she was sort of in labor…
I had the instructions, the medications, the meds and things I I might need and a person on the phone if I needed to ask a question (Thank you Lawana) ! And Stacey!
Our friends came by to visit the farm… Paul and (his wife Jen from China she is an animal lover) Without these two awesome assistants… I would have been in a worse mess.
I was suppose to go pick up feed…Les filled in for me last minute after his golf game. He wanted no part of this…Les finds this part of farming to difficult to assist in …
Terrible long story short.
We had a ewe with quads. (I knew there were 3) at least…she was down and could not sustain labor…She was very ill and I knew she was suffering. We put her down and delivered the 4 beautiful big lambs. We could not get the lambs to live though they were alive. Some how they knew …and we were unable to get them to thrive…
All 5 were buried on our farm…Belle was a wonderful mother and a great sheep.
This is the hard part of farming…
The Vet said we did all that was possible for Belle and her lambs…Still I feel real bad…it was the second worst day of my life with animals.
Thru it all I have to give God the glory and honor and praise! He sent me help in the form of Jen and Paul They stayed thru it all and were awesome help.
He sent me Les to take care of the practical needs.
He sent Mike to assist at the last when we were all worn out. Our nerves on end…
Then last but not least my sweet Uncle Don “happened” to stop by at the right time and he buried Belle and her 4 lambs!
Wow…
Then KAT and Drover our help…they were awesome helpers and Ms KAT adopted the lambs sadly it was all to late…but she tried as did Drover!
