It was a hot one today! No idea the temp nor do I care to know… then I would be comparing temps not days as the round of hot July weather starts…but at 7 AM it was quite warm and getting warmer…Ah this is why folks that work outside start at sun up… wise in my estimation!
We started actual work about 7:30 AM in the sheep pens …sorting , moving and finally working sheep and dogs. Journey led the work then Tallie and KAT laid in the shade snoozing. Drover was in basement, and our new (old dog) Neeka was at the carport hanging out.
Neeka is a BOO/ Trapper son…Neeka looks so much like sweet BOO and is quite the guard dog (she barks) ! at new people etc… but the new person wears off quickly! I like her Les LOVES her feeds and cares for her! She does look so much like BOO.
Oh, how did I get a new old dog?
My friend, had always wanted a puppy from me. ..10 years ago she lost her good dog…and was conflicted about no dog, or …a rescue or a puppy from me. Two good reasons…my friend was older… and she realized it was now or never for a puppy …BUT a very honest question was what would happen to the puppy if she was unable to take the puppy with her to a new living arrangement should that be necessary. (this lady had owned English Shepherds all her grown life, and grew up with them)
My friend came down to visit me from way up north…and we spent days looking at the countryside and meeting folk round Jackson Creek. She met Jaunita Winslow a great quilter and lady, Jaunita shared her wonderful collection of her own hand made quilts as I recall we visited for hours! It was so enjoyable.
The time came and a phone call…9 good long years with Neeka latter….and the dog was sent back to me per our contract…Other than a long ride and the need of a bath and a visit to the local Beauty Box and Neeka is fine… She seemed a bit lost at first but has found her voice, her appetite, and new job in life…
Neeka spends her days in the sunshine, and roaming round our farm in the evenings, Welcome Home Neeka!
Martha I pray for you to have found your new home as happy and sunny, peaceful, pleasant, and the new friends you make as good as your good dog has found hers. Thank you for raising such a fine dog, and for allowing me some more time with your sweet girl! Our promise to each other has been honored…
Peace and love Martha…May God be gracious and good to you…may your memories be a secret blessing to you…as your heart is surely full of them…may all the good things in your life and God hold you in the palm of His hand until He sees you work on this earth is complete …Prayers and love ….
