My Sweet Journey…

Today I needed an extra hand…fast and stock wise…we were putting out round bales of hay for the sheep . They are eating a round bale every other day in this cold weather.

The work was harder with the cold weather and blowing falling snow. The sheep are like kids in the candy store in regards to hay or feed and they get what they want!  Well not with the assistance of a good dog “J” as I like to call him.

Journey is really handy. he has to keep the sheep back away from the tractor as we put the hay out . and the sheep are everywhere. Journey has learned to keep the sheep back. from our work with very little direction from me. He is important !  He is like gloves and a hat and he “fits” each farm scenario perfectly. He stays where he is told and the sheep do not sass him.

Les and I had a difficult round bale placement and I forgot Journey was there  assisting us…we were 45 minutes  getting the bale just right in under a low shelter no higher than the bale. As we finished I looked over and I saw him laying in the deepening snow quietly watching the sheep and me just doing his job. He was one cold puppy when we returned to the house! He jumped into his crate and warmed up nicely (the extra wool vest) I put over him helped!

Journey is also good with the lambs…like his sire Drover the “Lamb Master” Journey has almost earned that title as well.

Journey is my excellent set out dog for trials.

He is 8 years old and for sure my right hand dog. He has an eye on me and ready to go no matter the task.

Yes a very fine dog!I truly have no idea what I would do without him!
