Simple Country Pleasures…

Listening to the sheep as they move about the pasture grazing. Their bells tinkling, and the soft “bah bah” here and there. As the sun sets low over Steep Rock Mountain…The air is cool with the promise of Fall on the edge of it. Then the crickets, frogs and birds speaking to each other …as they only do this time of year…softer and quieter.
The there are the tinges of Fall color in the leaves. The Poplars have been dropping their leaves for weeks in the green pretty fall grass. The Dogwoods as all ways tell their tale! Green with a touch of red on the edges and the lush red berries are plentiful!
Course the Muscadines growing wild offer up their wild fruit all purple and sweet and the more precious for the lack of numbers! But is there anything sweeter and better if you can find some?
And then after dark the owls…Start their discussions. I love to hear them off in the distance. Just now woo hoo, woo hoo, woo hoo….
How truly blessed I am to live in the country…019
