Is there anything more glorious than a cool, bright, sunny, beautiful January Sunday morning?
I jumped out of bed to the sound of sheep bells quietly making music in the distance. It was cool but not cold. Threw on my barn clothes. Turned the Shepherds out …and down to the pasture we went! All 6 grown dogs and 4 puppies! Now that is “something” !
All the dogs were so happy! bow wowing running and jumping with joy! The puppies just bouncing as only puppies can! rolling and running along all so happy.
The air was fresh and washed clean by the rain in the middle of the night. The sky was blue and beautiful… oh a glorious day for sure!
We put Tuff behind the dam and closed the gate. Then went to the sheep arena and looked for the possible new born lambs. Ah! NONE! maybe tomorrow! Has to be soon they look like they will burst and their bags are full like a Jersey cow! Our lamb that was born Friday morning seems to be doing great! She is a Churrio Dorper cross and is black with salt sprinkled on her side! Pretty!
We filled the water tank for the sheep (uh and the terrace) I forgot left the water running and remembered it about 1 PM! Yeah that will be a water bill!
All the dogs went with me to turn the chickens out! another real country pleasure! Little brown hens in the yard and 2 big roosters!
I put the puppies in the dog run with Abilene and went in to get ready for church!
Now there is a simple country pleasure! Sunday church at Piney Grove with folks I have known all my life! Preacher preached good and we had Sunday School! Visited with all our friends afterwards.
This afternoon was beautiful a bit windy still very nice…I had to doctor the sheep again so all the dogs went to the field with me.
The puppies stayed in the dog lot with their momma Abilene and watched the work…(actually they fussed mostly) they wanted to be helping! Latter when they are older!
Afterwards we all went to the house and I put all the dogs up… While Drover and I went on to the barn to pen the chickens for the night!
What a wonderful day!
