I remember my Grandpa dressed in overall, boots and coat… sitting on the ground…in the sunshine, up against the dairy barn,on a cold day…looking…
I wondered at the time why he would sit on the ground! It was cold and made no sense to me… he all ways sat in a chair! And he was old! (He was my Grandpa!) I laugh as I think of this…He had to be much younger than I am now, and Lord knows I spend plenty time sitting on the ground, cold, wet , hot …does not matter much to me.
Because I have discovered what my sweet Grandpa knew…but did not teach me by word …but by deed… (He did an awful lot of that type teaching) Guess he knew I would never hear the words…He has to be up in heaven going …Law this was a slow learning Granddaughter!
This afternoon the sun was bright as only sun on snow can be! Blinding all most. And warm! The wind was still…the birds sounded as if Spring had arrived! They excitedly proclaimed the beautiful weather after 3 days of cold wet freezing sleet and snow…It felt to me like it had been weeks since the sun had shone. I am sure the birds were saying as much! In Praise of the Creator!
I decided I would take the 2 Puppies, Kat and Drover on Walk About.
We went to the field and checked on the sheep. I dipped three lambs navels (2 were born Saturday! in the sleet) All are fine…We watered the sheep and moved the flock round some to check feet and who might be next to lamb.
The ewe on the right closest to the puppy is next;-)….
Before we did our Walk About…I took time to sit with the sheep and lambs, puppies and Drover. (KAT came in latter) and we sat in the hay on the ground with the sheep in the sun shine. What a glorious afternoon. The sun was hot on my face…and bright…The sky blue. The puppies had a ball romping in the hay and sniffing out wonderful delightful puppy things! Drover sat with me and complained about the company (only when they went across his back like he was part of the hay) …The ewes quietly chewed their cud, lambs nursed and talked to their Mothers..It was amazing. To be allowed to be part of this…
I am so thankful for my Mother and Daddy and my Grandma and Grandpa…For the life I have. A wonderful husband that allows me to do the things that are in my heart .For a warm comfortable home, good food and wonderful friends.
I know what my Grandpa was doing sitting on the ground…same thing I was doing this evening.
Being PART of the world around me. Observing, enjoying, listening, learning and praising in my heart the Creator for a wonderful life of love and joy.
I count it a privilege to be responsible for these animals, this land, I hope that I can help make this world a better place for having passed thru it.
We did Walk About and the two puppies had fun as you can see in the photos. (so did Drover, KAT and myself)
