Is a very smelly, dirty job at times. Today was one of those times!
We had to trim the feet of all our flock! We started out Gerry and I thinking we would do some today and the rest tomorrow. I was dreading the job because it is hard on my back and hands.
Les came down after lunch and saved us ! He held the sheep and that made the job easier and go faster. Plus he was able to trim many of the front feet while I did the rear ones. We trimmed 100 feet !
We also gave shots as needed and wormed as needed. Tomorrow we will run the sheep thru the foot bath.
I have to brag a bit … Gerry and her Cardigan Corgi “Elvis” did an awesome job gathering the herd and bringing them in. Then Elvis’s job was to watch!
My puppy Journey that had never been tied stayed all afternoon watching the work and at times really wanted to assist! But he is not ready for that! Though he and I did get the ewe up with the lamb. And Journey was allowed to meet the lamb!
KAT is my go to dog! She has come so very far in a short time! KAT sorted and moved and stayed in the small area we were working in and slept part of the time because there was not much fast moving work, (we are slow foot trimmers!) but she was all ways ready… helping when asked .She is awesome at working in the pens!
It was an extra special day…With a breathtaking sunset over Steep Rock Mountain!
