Journey (L) Me, Drover and KAT (R)
The rain is softly falling on the grass and on the Magnolia leaves it seems to whisper to me “peace”. As I sit looking out onto the farm I marvel at the beautiful blossoms on the Magnolia trees and Crepe Myrtles trees that line our drive way.
The smell of fresh rain so clean and light on the breeze that gently comes into the windows. Along with the smell of rain on thirsty ground.
The sheep bells soft in the distance tinkling and the occasional call of a ewe to her lamb…
All is well.
The dogs are all on the carport waiting…watching…napping…but ready! Ready for me to take the gator and head down to the sheep pens to work sheep. They do not care what it is we are doing. But today…we are doing herding lessons and doctoring feet…mainly trimming hooves.
The lesson goes well with Journey, KAT and Diesel. Mutton is learning too…
We trimmed 3 ewes hooves. They were happy to have their nails cut!
Yesterday we had sheared 4 ewes by hand. The last one looks fairly rough. Think chewed up hair …That is how she looks. Her hair was hard and stuck to her and dulled my scissors fast.
After all the work was completed the sheep were turned out into the big field, for a night’s sleep and a day of rest tomorrow.
