Abilene/Dillon Litter Happy 3rd Birthday!!!

I can hardly believe it has been three years since Abilene had her first litter. They were born in our tack room (on that pink carpet) well sort of. I knew she was ready to deliver, but she waited all day. Rebecca was here to assist because I was afraid something would go wrong, and she wanted to be here I think  she was just as excited as I was…Dillon is her boy and her Kira is Abilene’s sister. Rebecca had waited all day and the night before.  But finally had to go home late that evening. Around 9:00 PM Abilene’s water broke on my pallet I had fixed on the floor, so I could be right there for all the action. Yes I had a nice whelping box fixed but Abilene thought my spot was so much more comfortable, and she wanted to be beside me. She had 8 puppies in 2 and 1/2 hours and was finished like she had done this all her life. Jamie Cross my friend,  was here in attendance with me, as well, and I would have not made it through the birthing without her help, and Rebecca’s on the phone. We were all so happy and excited!

Abilene settled into motherhood like the good English Shepherd Dog she is and the rest was very easy for me. Except for the fact that all I wanted to do was gaze at the pretty little puppies and dream about what they would be when they grew up. WOW! How proud I am of each and every one of these puppies!!!

DJ (Dillon Jr.) grew up to be a handsome red colored sable dog and lives in Reidsville, NC  and has his Jr. Herding Dog title. Tess and Kate both black and white girls flew to Alaska and live in Anchorage where they protect their family from bears and love to play ball, even snow ball and Tess is all most ready to test for her Schutzhund BH! Bella  a black and white girl, flew to Phoenix, Arizona, loves to run with her owner and helps her prepare for Marathons. Quimby went to Iowa and lives on a  farm and helps with the horses and chickens she is black and tan. Lacey is a tri color and lives about 10 miles from me with my friend Jamie, that helped with the delivery. She spends her days on the farm looking after things and evenings watching TV from the bed. Amarillo lives with me and is black and tan and is my best cow dog and has a perfect “down stay”.

From All The Maple Grove Farm Crew Happy Happy  Birthday !!! We wish you all 20 more!!!!!
