YES!!! Abilene is in the family way!! Her tummy is getting larger, and her nipples are darkening and enlarging too. She is eating more.
She is in week six days 36 to 42. The puppies are developing skin pigment. They should weigh 6 grams. And are 45 mm long (1.77 inches). I should be able to hear heart beats and will let you all know when I do!!!
I will start to prepare the Whelping Room and her whelping area.
What I do is assemble all my things needed for delivery and emergency things as well. Some of the items are: gloves, ky jelly, glasses, baby monitor, scales, dental floss, clippers, hemostats, book, stethoscope, clean cloths, towels, and blankets. There are many more.
I will have a heater and a heat lamp. A bed for Abilene and one for me as well on the floor. Water pan for Abilene. Clock and my Puppy Delivery Chart. There will be a litter box for Abilene.
Yes I have much to do and gather. During the weeks leading up I purchase canned goats milk. It is difficult to find very many cans at one time so I purchase what I can find so I have a good stock. I feed this to the puppies when they start eating food at about 2 and 1/2 weeks of age. And Abilene likes it as well early on.
If the next 3 weeks are like the last 5 then I will be delivering puppies in my next breath! The time is flying!!!
Abilene is doing all of her usual things. She rides on the Gator to the pasture, last night she went to Wal Mart with me in the truck. She runs and plays, but I think she sleeps more.
Drover is being cute and helpful at the sheep pens. He is so good moving the ducks! These are going to be real special puppies!!!
