Puppies and Tomorrow

Tomorrow we will test on the ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This will show me instinct only. I will be looking for interest in the ducks, natural ability to move the ducks, and prey drive. Also how they react in a totally new setting.
I have a small pen fixed 8 feet by 8 feet. I bring 3 ducks up and they have freshly cut nails so as to not harm the puppies. I stay in the pen and bring one puppy in at a time. If a puppy is afraid or not interested I put a puppy in with it that is interested, and so on until all have a chance. This all takes about 30 minutes total start to finish. It is a very brief time for each puppy but enough for me to see .
This is all most as exciting to me as when the puppies are born, because this tells me so much about each puppy and where they are likely to go.
Abilene is in the process of weaning the puppies and this is all ways so interesting to watch. She allows them to nurse some because she still has milk and it needs to be nursed out. But she does this all so gradual and kind to the puppies that as the 4 or 5 days pass the puppies are not stressed or upset by it. Soon it becomes their idea to not nurse. Then they are weaned!
