Les and I went to Rick’s a local family restaurant in Denton tonight to have supper. We ran up with Juanita Winslow and her daughter Rhonda. They invited us to sit with them and we started talking. First about our need of 4 Danny Dozets and clear vanilla flavoring that the Women’s Society sells at Piney Grove. That led to Grandma .
Some of my fondest memories are of summer Bible School. It lasted a week and was held in the evenings in June or July. We would gather as a group and have a short devotion then learn new songs. After which we went to our classes. We were all ways so excited to see what crafts we were to make! And what fun they were! The lessons were as much fun as the crafts. We would have a play time for dodge ball or volley ball, I believe we played crocque , and hide and seek to name a few. It was all ways so much fun!
Then we would have refreshments. And how good they were! Cupcakes, cookies, snacks, and COOL AIDE !!! Each lady in the Women’s Society took turns prepairing something and Jauinita was my favorite. Her stuff was allways different and not like what I got at home!
I can hear us laughing and playing, learning and remember the feel of the evening smell the grass and the clean fresh air. Teachers teaching quietly and children talking to loud. The music and the fun that we had preparing to share on Sunday what we had learned all week.
I am so glad we ran into Juanita and Rhonda tonight! What wonderful memories they stirred in me! Thank you both for causing me to remember!
