A Tribute…

My Grandpa use to have me help pick up rock out of the fields when he turned them and made them ready for planting. He also built and maintained terraces in all of his fields. It was all ways easy to walk in his fields  . They were smooth like your yard is…

Les and I have been working on the up coming trial and Gathering in October. That entails us mowing parts of the field in front of our home. We were talking about how smooth and easy the field mows with a lawn mower. No rock, not up and down or rough….

My Grandpa might not have been a very good gardener(as per Grandma) But he was one Good Farmer! He has been gone for 17 years and his property still shows his good stewardship!

My What a Testament to my Grandpa Delk’s ability to farm!

I am smiling as I think of this and all he had his boys do…How their lives on the farm was hard but I expect it made them what they all are today. And their children (Astor and Lyde’s Grandchildren) what their lives are today! Either directly (in my case) or indirectly in some of the other grandchildren….My what a legacy…..

I remember Grandma saying  Easter a year ago as she looked around with sweet tears in her eyes.. saying how she and “Astor started as 2 and be came one and now all of these people present had come from that union in 1936…”  she had lots more to say that day…I will share that another day….
