For the past 5 years Les and I have been Camp Ground Hosts for four summers at Fox Creek Horse Camp . We have met so many nice people…
For the last three summers a Grandmother and her Granddaughter have stayed for two months or so at the camp ground with their horses. The first year Na’kayia was five years old . This amazing young girl rode daily with no complaining no matter how far or how rough the ride… Then when she got back to camp she got on her bicycle and rode it till dark or played in the creek if the weather was warm enough.
This year Na’kayia and I walked and looked at wild flowers and talked about bear, horses, dogs, and camping. We have a pack in trip planned for 3 nights and 4 days next year! along with her Grandmother Alice along the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.
As we walked along the winding mountain road above the horse camp I mentioned that Black Eyed Susans were one of my favorite flowers and pointed them out … When we were back to camp Na’kayia handed me a Black Eyed Susan and I said I would put it in my diary to remind me of our summer… Guess what fell out of my diary just now????!!!
What a sweet reminder of a beautiful summer!!!!
