It was a beautiful day in the Piedmont of NC. Temperatures nice and the sun shone. The leaves most likely as pretty as they will be…
We had a herding work shop from 1:00 Pm until dark.
There were 2 new people in attendance, a nice couple from Asheboro with a really nice working rough Collie (with good instincts!) as well as a nice very soft would only work for her owner Australian Shepherd. Both are town dogs right now but they hope to have a place soon and want to have a start on having dogs that will be able to help them.
We had one Border Collie “Jess” and he is working real good. A lot of help in the pens with moving stock as well. And helped with the escaped Ducks.. He wears sun glasses.
Then there were 8 English Shepherds. All at various stages in their learning. And one beautiful (just here for fun Dobe)
One a 10 month old B/T Rescue Puppy…worked nice with lots of interest as well as interested in all the poo .. Seems it was raised in a chicken coop! Worked nice with the ducks and sheep..She is easy and careful with the stock. Laree’s two girls did nice on the sheep and the ducks as well as Margaret’s Matilda .. Lucy was a bit tired and content to watch for the most part I think. Then Drover did his job. Helping move the ducks from pen to pen and the sheep as well. Also I demonstrated to the new people how to work in a round pen and on a long line with him. I let Abilene watch (she is still in heat) and tired of being cooped up for all most 3 weeks. BOO helped in the pens some, and watched quietly as well as socialized at the end of the day (all good for her)…..
We had lots of fun as did the dogs. We all learned from each other and helped each other. It was a fine Sunday Afternoon spent with friends and our dogs. It passed way to fast for us. The different things we learned will serve us well for weeks to come…
