It rained off and on most of the day here.
It was a true Fall kind of rainy day! The leaves were gently falling , making a green carpet of grass red and yellow in places. One of the most beautiful trees the Dog wood is breath taking beautiful all decked out in the most deep, rich, brilliant red.
The rain drops on the pond made it look splashy and tan like brown in color. The clouds grey and dark hid the sun till late evening. But with all the leaves in their full brilliant color the day was still quite light and beautiful!
This evening late as the sun sat I walked down to feed the horses Tuff and Goodnight, and then on down to the sheep and ducks. Course all the dogs went along!
The smell of the fresh rain on the grass and the newly fallen leaves was just heavenly. Everywhere I looked it was wonderful to behold the beauty that surrounds me here.
I like the old Hymn “Life’s Evening Sun” (I think it has a different name) “Is sinking low, a few more days and I must go!” It is a favorite of mine and brings many a fond memory of church at Piney Grove and our good little choir singing!
The sun set was something to see over the pond! I can’t help but think there could not be much prettier in heaven or earth! (Maybe the sun never sets in heaven but I wonder if there aren’t maybe some special occasions like this evening where God does allow a sunset….Or maybe we can remember one such as this and it is like we are here!
The air was so fresh and refreshing and had that promise of a real chill on it! I believe we will get that killing frost tomorrow night!
