I was busy decorating the house for Christmas. The sun had fallen below the mountains, and I happened to glance out towards the west.
What I saw made me stop in my tracks! I pulled up the rocking chair and sat down to watch and think.
The water in the pond was still as glass. It was a color I cannot describe accurately. I tried to think about the color but it was different as the light faded. Over against the far bank it was a grey light tan color then more grey the closer I was to the water.
In the water was a perfect reflection of the trees without their leaves they looked like slim delicate sculptures and they were upside down in the reflection on the pond. The background was at first the deepest dark purple mountains without seemly and depth, with purple, lavender and pink in the sky. It was alot like a simple but breathtaking painting. All most surreal but impressionist as well.
I was stopped for 30 minutes as I enjoyed the beauty of the evening. The peace I felt and, the glory of God’s creation. Just awesome! I should have took photos, but did not want to miss any of it by looking for my camera. (maybe I will keep it handy!)
I thought about those that had enjoyed the same view before me. I thought of my Daddy, Great Aunt Grace, Grandpa, and others before them…
It is impossible to do any of what I saw or felt this evening justice with words.
Suffice to say it was breathtaking. And I am so blessed to have been able to slow down long enough to “see” the beauty of the evening.
