Abilene is fine and up and out early this morning!
She slept in her room again last night and will from now on! Not taking any chances!
Dogs like to find a dark inconvenient place to den up to “find their puppies” as my Grandpa use to call it! NOT Taking that chance here! I have not seen any nesting behavior, and really don’t expect any for a week at least.
I have noticed a tendency to have lots more gas! Poor thing! As we walked across the yard just now she was step/gas/step/gas/step well you get it! It is quite funny (and she does seem embarrassed a bit!) But it does say that the puppies are there and growing !
About that..Her tummy feels like it has ridges and knots in it over the surface. Yes that is what puppies feel like!
I keep a close watch on her whole body with checks at least 3 times a day of her body. I pay close attention to her vulva area and how she moves around.
As her body prepares for the blessed event it sends hormones to her hips and back side to relax muscles and such so the puppies can be born. If you pay close attention you can see and feel this happening. The gas is a indidcator. As is a softness in her tissues and I notice that she becomes all most wobbly about 24 hours before birthing.
I have my forms ready …Now to finish my food purchases! Vanilla Ice Creme is on my list! (for Abilene!)

So exciting! I check back all the time just in case there is news. Can’t wait to see those sweet pups.
