Abilene ………

Okay I know no one is going to believe this BUT  Abilene went to the field with me this afternoon and Helped FENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   She has bounced like a expecting Mom! Grin But Bounced None the Less!

She is tired! So Maybe it will be like what My Momma use to say they did to get Labor to come on. She said Daddy would take her ridding around on bumpy back roads! (something about castor oil too!) Yuck!!  Seems it was the “thing” or as Grandma said “present cure” !   I don’t know! All I do know is Abilene is very heavy with puppies and her time is very near!

I could not help but think about a story I read about a Border Collie from the 1700’s that while bringing the sheep home her Master had purchased over 10 miles away hit a very bad storm, never mind that she had puppies along the way as well! But brought her Master’s sheep home (with out him!) and then went back and picked up each pup all 4 and brought them home as well!!!

Okay!! Abilene was out with us because SHE wanted to! I did keep an eye on her and I knew she would have fussed up in her room! She went promptly to it as soon as we finished!

Now we wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!   Its all good!!!!!!!!!

Smile!!!!  Won’t it be GREAT when they do arrive!!!!!??????!!!!!!!

***  Puppy pics and such will be posted on the New Year’s Pups page.  So stay tuned! ***

Dear Kay, It certainly was a pleasant New Year’s Day greeting when you phoned Sunday. We have been burning up the internet lately…checking to see if Abilene had whelped. We saw that she had and then we were really on pins a needles. More fun than birthing one of our own! We let you attend the deliveries (was in on that all too often, having worked in a newborn nursery for 16 years. That was the best of my nursing occupations.). Ralph and I are eager to see more on your lovely website. Thanks so much. We hope that you and yours have a restful day. Must be an awfully lot to do on your farm.
Tell Abilene that we think she is great!
    Sincerely, Ellen and Ralph
