Monday December 28th, 2009 10:30 AM Les and Richard are off to Wyoming!!!! Sure wish I could have went!! They have all kinds of Christmas goodies to munch, the GMC truck is loaded with a dog crate, cooler (contains Pepsi, OJ, and water) suite cases , blankets, emergency supplies (snows out there) a road map, GPS and cell phones!
They see a foot of snow on the way in the Virginia Mountains at Fox Creek. Had to go that way because of the rock slide on I-40. Some snow fell in Louisville KY but it is mostly just cold. They are spending the night at the Thrifty Inn in Mt Vernon, Ill. And leaving out real early in the morning…….
Tuesday December 29th, 2009 7:30 AM Central time ON THE ROAD!!! Heading for Kansas City and depending on ROAD conditions from there ? They slept fair and had breakfast and are starting to realize it is a LONG WAY to Ten Sleep Wyoming!!!!
It has been a nice day for “The Boys” …Les had planned to travel north from I-70 on I-29 but the roads were to bad so on through Kansas on I-70.. Les was able to visit with a friend of his from his Army Days and he enjoyed that in the Chapman Area. The road has been dry .
They turned North towards Nebraska on Route 83. Les said that on a full moon night one would not need their lights it is so bright out. He is all ways telling me that he does not know HOW he gets any where without me? I told him that 83 would turn left and he missed the turn and went 40 miles out of his way!! Guess NOW he really does need my help !!! (Imagine LOST in the Kansas countryside!!!) He is back on route 83 and headed to North Platte Nebraska for the night. They will spend the night there and get an early start in the morning!! Ten Sleep tomorrow afternoon.!!!
UPDATE!!!! Les left his 3 pair of Wrangler jeans hanging in the motel room last night!!! He only has the pair on his, uh ,well ON HIM . Five days the same jeans this should be interesting!!He will have to be careful!!! Reminds me of the trip to the Quarter Horse Congress several years ago.. He left all of his clothes he packed for 7 days at home hanging in the closet. Now that was fun he got all new clothes!!!No time for shopping on this trip!I will call in the morning and see if they can send them back home.
Les says they are having a good time, and enjoying the trip.
The THIRD DAY on the road and they had a good night’s sleep and headed out at 6:30 AM and should be in Ten Sleep Wyoming around 5:00 PM today.(Lets see if Google times are close)…I am so excited and can’t wait….
Well I have been told of big windmills , beautiful country, antelope herds of 100?, horses, big bales of hay, and snow on the ground everywhere!!!!!!!! I sure wish I were along!! and it was June!!
YES THEY ARE IN WYOMING as of 12:00 today and are on Hwy 20/26 headed towards Thermopolis then Worland and on to Ten Sleep and The Greet Ranch!! They should be there by 4:00PM today!!!! Les has instructions to take photos of the Sod House on the ranch.
The plan is to head out towards Buffalo in the morning and on through South Dakota.
The roads were not bad and they are having a real good time. Had supper in Thermopolis and went by the world’s largest hot springs….
THEY HAVE ARRIVED AT THE GREET RANCH!!!!!!! ALL I KNOW IS: there is snow and it is not bad? They are a mile off the main road, THEY HAVE SEEN THE PUPPIES!!!! Cell phone does not work and they will be leaving out in the morning heading EAST with THREE PUPPIES and the first stop will be South Dakota on I-90…..
The Boys did not get a early start they left around 8:00 AM. The roads were interesting and the mountain pass was slick but all is well and no problems!!! It snowed on them in Spearfish to Sturgis, South Dakota. Must have been fairly hard snow showers because Les wanted to know how much longer they would last.? But they thankfully have had clear skies since. I have viewed the interstate cam shots and man it looks to me like a sea of white and two ribbons of dark blueish gray running through it with light blue skies above and nothing else! And it looks cold!!!
They met the first puppy buyer in Kimball, South Dakota .All went well there and they were right on time!
My puppy is the get sick in the truck puppy, but he is mine and the truck is ours so… and I understand Richard got wet on by my puppy, but at least HE has Clean Pants to change to!!!
Les said the puppies should be called “Winking, Blinking, and Nodding” They have slept most the way so far and my boy has not been sick again. They have been walked, had restroom breaks, and fed so all is well with the puppies.
Next trick is Motel 6 in Avoca, Iowa. That is where they are spending the night and then on to Davenport to meet Sara with her special puppy!!! I know she is excited. !! Then HOMEWARD BOUND!!!
The Boys are getting tired and looking forward to a soft bed , hot shower, sleep, and a wake up call in the morning!!!

OR WITH HARD TO CHOOSE FOR THE PUPPIES..NOT SO FUN FOR LES AND RICHARD TIRED AND SLEEPY. THIS MADE FOR A VERY EARLY WAKE UP AND GET OUT ON THE ROAD FOR ALL…. I WAS TO WAKE THEM AT 7 AM ..LES WOKE ME AT 6:30 AM MY TIME AND 150 MILES FROM DAVENPORT IOWA….WHERE SARA WAS TO MEET THEM AROUND 11:00 AM OR A BIT LATTER…. NOW THIS IS A PROBLEM…SARA MILKS 100 COWS TWICE A DAY 4 HOURS FROM DAVENPORT IOWA. YEAH, AND SHE WAS TOLD BY ME THE TIME LAST NIGHT! WELL HOPEFULLY IT IS FIXED NOW AND SARA IS MEETING THEM IN BLOOMINGTON ,ILL TWO AND 1/2 HOURS DOWN THE ROAD FOR THE BOYS BUT ABOUT THE SAME TIME LINE FOR SARA AS DAVENPORT. WHAT A TROOPER!!! WE WILL SEE WHAT HE IS TOMORROW WHEN HE MEETS “THE GIRLS AND DALLAS” THERE ARE 5 GROWN STRONG ENGLISH SHEPHERDS HERE IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THEY THINK OF HIM AND JUST HOW LONG THEY WILL ALLOW HIM PUPPY STATUS.
