Les and Cheyanne…

A photo of Les and his Good Paint Horse Cheyenne…Taken at Mount Rogers in October on a trail going to The Scales…

Cheyanne  was traded for at Ken Treadway’s. He was a stallion when I first laid eyes on him and poor as a snake (as Grandma use to say) . The folk that had him out in Texas was scared of him and had not fed him well. When I saw him he was standing at the wash rack and looking bad. I saw him and fell in love on the spot! Les said no way! No Stallions! But Les ended up seeing it my way and Cheyenne came home with us. I named him Cheyenne. (He reminded me of a George Strait song… the one where the Rodeo cowboy calls home and his girlfriend says don’t call there is someone new and he says if I hurry I can make Cheyenne!)

I rode him some and he is a fine ride, but he has way to much movement for my back. Hurts me bad. But Les rode him for several years . In fact he rode him so much he said he was boring to ride. He was steady , safe,  sane, would go anywhere you asked him to go. As fine a  horse as I know of any where and beautiful to boot.

He belongs to a friend of ours now. He needed a good stout steady horse and he has one !

I borrowed him for a weekend last spring and he did great for me!

Les still misses him as do I!!!!
