Well here I am back already. Just finished with the mowing around the house. Ed and cows did the barn area this morning it was interesting to watch from the window and see how Skye relates to the cows without either of us their for support or direction. It is a test, to see if his instincts overrule his training. He passed the test. Because we have so many babies it is important that he follow the guidelines that we have set up in the training process. Skye understands this very well and he is willing to watch from a unobtrusive distance but just on that boundary of a split second. The calves seem to be a little bold this morning and are testing his will. I love that I can sit here and just observe without him feeling any pressure from me. And he proves to me again that he is in total control of his mind over matter, as the calves are moving closer to the fence and he senses that he may now be a little to close for the mothers liking, he just got up and moved back and laid back down. This is what a good herding dog needs to be able to do. If you have a dog that you can trust and count on when you are not in the picture you are very lucky. So now it is time for their dinner and a long happy walk to the woods and a little fishing. Skye loves to fish our creeks, although he never seems to catch anything, he spends many joyful hours trying. Pat Justus
