Last weekend Kay and I worked the sheep pens for the Linda Rorem Clinic. We had a big turn out!
Saturday there were 13 dogs that ran 2 runs! Sunday 12 dogs!
Kay was so excited about what she was learning…Gosh she might make a decent handler! I think she really did learn some things!
My job was moving the sheep from out of the holding pens , down an alley way into a catch pen. Kay and Marianne worked the gates for me.
I would go into the small holding pen along the wall and then “walk round” and bring the sheep out into the alley way. Then I would drive them to the Holding/Take pen where the gates were then shut by my assistants. I would be told to stay and Kay would go to the sheep. She would start to walk towards the gate to the alley to the round pen, and the sheep with my help (I was behind them) would follow her. Athe the big gate I would hold the sheep (I was a gate) till the gate was shut!
A couple of time the sheep wanted to split off and not go with their group, but I “covered” that and all went quite well.
Boy was I tired at the end of each day! It was work! And I worked from 7:00 AM till 5:00PM with a break for lunch! (I heard Linda say she liked my work ethic!)
Here are some photos from the clinic…ENJOY!!!!
