Up Dates….

Today We went back to regular herding work… After being off a week. I am still not using Drover except for putting the sheep in the barn at night. His shoulder seems much better, still a bit of a limp. What I have done is stay off the Gator so he does not get on and off it…And I am fairly sure that is the problem….He just hurts it in the jumping off of the gator…

After dark we walked down to the field to find the sheep and bring them up.

There was a bit of trouble…It was very dark…I doubt sheep see any better than I do in the dark. But with the bells and their white coats I could find them and know how to send Drover. Thing is he wanted to cut in too soon. No I could not see it but I did FEEL the results! By how many sheep ran into me and magically there he was !  Knee hurts a bit but all is well.

We then proceeded to have 3 flocks of sheep , finally we got them gathered up and up the hill we all walked. I left Drover in a down stay in the field (knowing full well he would come up at the right time. He did. We all went to the barn nice and easy and quietly. When there was enough light from the barn I could see Drover walking quietly behind the sheep at a nice distance so as not to push them.

Timber spent the afternoon in the crate in my bedroom asleep… After lunch I crashed! I slept 4 hours !

This morning Timber went to the sheep pens and watched Artie work the sheep. She was even on leash and helping a bit. It is so interesting to see the sheep’s reaction to such a little puppy! She has some presence about her. Please know I only have her round the sheep…She is never in danger at all.

We all walked back up to the house after the herding lesson, and I let Timber run with the Big Dogs! She is growing and eating well. Lets me know when she needs to potty (while in her crate) and is a sweet puppy!

Montanna is feeling better after her pain meds last night that walk about was tough on her. Abilene is sassy, Amarillo is sweet, Drover is all most better in his shoulder and will only be doing light work…BOO is well BOO!!!!  She is a good girl…
